Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner Kept It Simple for Their Red-Carpet Debut

Despite skipping the Met Gala on Monday night so he could watch the Knicks play the Celtics on a tiny iPad screen, it turns out that Timothée Chalamet had some room in his schedule to hit up a red carpet this week after all. And in Italy, of all places! He also brought along his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, and they even sort of matched their outfits.

Since becoming an item in early 2023, Chalamet and Jenner have been spotted at all manner of public events: basketball games, tennis matches, poker nights. The one place they hadn’t yet been seen together, however? On a red carpet. Despite the fact that Jenner—who, unlike her beau, did attend the Met this year—was by the actor’s side for much of his gonzo A Complete Unknown press tour, the duo had never actually walked in front of a step-and-repeat together. That is, until Wednesday, when Kylie and Timmy both graced the carpet at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome, where Chalamet is set to receive the David for Cinematic Excellence. (Per Timmy’s Instagram story, Marilyn Monroe was presented with the same honorary award back in 1959.)

For the occasion, Chalamet wore a double-breasted black velvet Tom Ford suit, which he accessorized with a white rosette fastened to his coat pocket. Jenner, in a slinky Schiaparelli gown, opted for the same brooding, obsidian-forward color palate.

For both Timmy and Kylie—the most high-key “low-key” couple that Hollywood’s had in years—this is the sartorial equivalent of playing the hits. Chalamet’s Tom Ford suit was designed by his longtime pal, Haider Ackerman, who also cooked up the TF suits Timmy sported at the Golden Globes and the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party earlier this year. And throughout the A Complete Unknown press run, Jenner made a habit of wearing bombshell black gowns—which were still statement-making enough to fetch headlines, despite her skipping the red carpets. Now that they’ve broken the step-and-repeat seal, it’ll be fun to watch them really start dressing.
