Reuters: Tesla plans 20% cheaper Model Y, warns of tariffs


Tesla is reportedly planning a cheaper Model Y for China, which could provide a boost amid share price decline and the threat of tariffs. By Will Girling

Tesla plans to introduce a more affordable version of its best-selling Model Y in China, according to 14 March 2025 report by Reuters. The publication cited three anonymous sources with “knowledge of the matter”, who claim the electric vehicle (EV) maker will commence mass production for the vehicle—codenamed “E41″—in Shanghai from 2026.
