Rowan accelerated Volvo Cars’ transition to EVs and SDVs, but now the automaker believes a “steady hand” is required. By Stewart Burnett

Jim Rowan has stepped down as Chief Executive of Volvo Cars after serving for three of the most challenging years in the automaker’s 98-year history. In his place, it is bringing back 74-year-old Håkan Samuelsson, who served in the same role before stepping down in 2022.
