EU begins deliberations on how to respond to Trump tariffs


EU Trade Chief concedes that a ‘zero-for-zero’ deal on cars likely isn’t possible due to the US viewing tariffs as a “corrective measure”. By Stewart Burnett

The EU has commenced early talks with the US about working around new tariffs as hopes ‘zero-for-zero’ deal on cars and all industrial goods slip increasingly out of reach. At the same time, it is currently preparing a “robust list of countermeasures” on steel and aluminium, according to Trade Chief Maroš Šefčovič.
