David Beckham Donned a Summer-Ready Suit for Wimbledon’s Opening Day

If there’s one person who still advocates wearing a suit every day, it’s David Beckham. The meticulously dressed soccer superstar has a suit for every season and any occasion, whether it’s a summery Loro Piana double-breasted kit or a carefully disheveled Dior tuxedo.

It’s a characteristic that’s made him a fashion stalwart in the VIP stands at Wimbledon, which upholds a famously traditional dress code. We’ve seen celebs bend the rules in recent years—notably, top-ranked pro Jannik Sinner’s loudly monogrammed Gucci bag last summer—but as British GQ’s Murray Clark phrased it last year, “Wimbledon is the Met Gala for people who like nice, normal clothes.” Generally, ties are required.

Beckham attended opening day of the London tennis tournament over the weekend, hitting the court in one of his sharpest summer suits yet: a custom taupe canvas suit, which he paired with a pale blue Oxford shirt, navy pocket square, and a nubby acorn-brown silk knit tie from Boss. The timing makes sense, as Beckham recently inked a multi-year deal as a guest designer with the Hugo Boss imprint; his first collection for the German menswear giant is expected to drop this fall for the spring 2025 season.

Becks sat alongside his mom Sandra in the Royal Box, where he later snapped photos with fans and chatted with fellow tennis enthusiast David Attenborough. The Wimbledon spirit is alive and well.
