If you’re lucky enough to spot A$AP Rocky in public, he’ll almost certainly be kitted out in full Bottega Veneta. The rapper has been an official ambassador for the Matthieu Blazy-led house for some time now, appearing in two memorable campaigns over the past year: a clever paparazzi-inspired shoot last December and a heartwarming Father’s Day short film with his sons in July. And just when we thought the man was done flaunting grails for the year, he whips out one of the greatest jackets of 2024.
At the Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York City, Rocky showed up in a white-hot leather jacket. Released as part of Bottega’s latest collection, the aviator-style bomber was crafted in Italy from some of the loveliest lambskin on the planet. There’s a generous helping of shearling wrapped around the collar, alongside plenty of gleaming chrome hardware.
Traditionally, pieces like this extend past the hips to keep the wearer extra warm and extra cozy. But Rocky’s flight jacket was cropped high for a much boxier look, allowing his trio of enormous belt buckles to really shine.
Bottega Veneta has always excelled at leather, with its iconic intrecciato weave—used today on everything from handbags to AirPod cases—long ranking among the most alluring and elegant signature patterns in fashion. But under the brilliant direction of Blazy, who took the helm in 2021, Bottega has explored the material in increasingly novel ways, including the trompe l’oeil denim jeans, chino jackets, and fleece sweats made from printed leather that the designer is now known for.
A$AP Rocky’s sick jacket uitlizes leather a little more conventionally than that, perhaps, but it’s still a major flex worthy of your holiday wishlist.
